Course Description

Designed for individuals other than healthcare providers or professional rescuers. Instruction in basic life support skills for adult patients experiencing airway obstruction and cardiovascular emergencies.

Notes

This course meets the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) requirements for Adult, Child and Pediatric CPR. If you are a current healthcare provider or a student in a healthcare program that requires CPR this course is for you. Please check your class format under "type" right next to "date and time" to know what format you have signed up for. Certification is for 2 years.

Plano - Courtyard Campus Room 306

This section will be delivered in a blended format. Most instructional activity will be conducted online, with some required face-to-face classroom meetings/learning activities scheduled intermittently throughout the term. Additional requirements may include test proctoring with student authentication, a desktop or laptop computer (not a mobile device), a webcam, and/or a microphone. The onsite face-to-face classroom meetings are as follows: Class will meet on 12/12 at CYC306 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

EMSP 1020 - Blended format: Delivered with some online work and in class activities.

  • DAY 1 - Zoom orientation beginning at the scheduled time. This class meeting is virtual and usually takes 30-45 minutes. Students will receive their online key after attending the call.

  • DAY 2 - 6 Most instructional activity will be conducted online, with one required face-to-face classroom meeting for the BLS (basic life support) skills evaluation. This is at your own pace. Your instructor is available to answer questions via email.

  • LAST DAY - Live in person skills evaluation with your Instructor during the scheduled time. Students will attend class for approximately 1 - 2 hours to complete this format of course.
