Course Description

Hatshepsut, The Female Pharaoh

Daughter of a pharaoh and sister and wife to another pharaoh, Hatshepsut used her positions and more importantly, her abilities, to assume the throne of Egypt in her own right.  Through religious rituals, support of temples, military campaigns and a building program, Hatshepsut proved her right to rule Egypt as its pharaoh for over 14 years.

The presentation concludes by looking at Egypt today and seeing what would be familiar to Hatshepsut and what would be new and strange.
