Brian de la Houssaye’s father was a horse cavalryman of the 7th Regiment, long after the Little Bighorn.  His mother's folks ran cattle and horses from Stephenville to El Paso and he was given his first horse when he was 7.  Initially, horses were for pure fun, followed by a little cow punching.  In college Brian became interested in the athleticism of the horse.  He learned to jump and play polo, riding in the Southern Arizona Hunt and the Pima County Polo Club.  He trained hunter/jumpers, including having one qualify for the Pebble Beach Steeplechase.  Because of his interest in history, he has read extensively about horse development and its impact on human events.
