Great American Short Stories Discussion Group

We will discuss 10 readings from 100 Years of the Best American Short Stories, a volume of 40 stories selected from more than 2,000 that have been published in The Best American Short Stories’ series.  This is the longest-running and best-selling series of short fiction in the country.  Our selection includes works from 1975-86 by Barthelme, Elkin, Paley, Baxter, and Simpson.  100 Years of the Best American Short Stories (2015) is edited by Lorrie Moore and Heidi Pitlor and is available online.

Paul Dolliver earned degrees in History and Geology from Baylor University.  He has also pursued graduate studies in History of Science at Harvard University.  He is a geologist, college instructor, reader, walker, and Texas Master Naturalist.  Paul has been involved with SAIL for several years and has facilitated discussion groups for over 30 years.  He currently teaches Oceanography at Collin College
