Course Description

Great Expectations – Charles Dickens

Perhaps you read this book when you were younger; return to Pip and Miss Haversham now that you have the experiences of maturity.  Meet again these memorable characters along with Magwitch (the criminal), Estella (the beautiful), Joe Gargery (the blacksmith), Mrs. Joe (the angry sister) and Mr. Jaggers (the strange lawyer). The story is of a young orphan boy in early 19th century England who pushes through life trying to find his “great expectations”. Along the way the reader finds a fascinating and mysterious plot as only Dickens can create. The book is 490 pages; we will discuss about fifteen chapters in each class. The long read is worth the effort!
