Course Description

History is Music to My Ears

Once humans began to record their music, that music accompanied all major historical, cultural, social and political events.  From the chants of medieval monks to national anthems, war songs, protest songs and even love songs have followed the actions of humans over time.  Come and listen as well as learn how humans have marched hand in hand with their songs.

Karen Marcotte is a retired Professor Emerita in History and Humanities and taught for 40 years in the Alamo Community College District (ACCD) in San Antonio.  The SAIL presentations provide her the opportunity to research little know aspects of history, especially the often-overlooked role of women.  Also, it allows her to take the time to view historical and humanistic concepts from different perspectives
