HIST 01SU26 - “Lesser” Stories of American History: “Corps of Discovery”

When President Jefferson commissioned Lewis and Clark to explore the Louisiana Purchase, he paved the way for sparking the imaginations of settlers to follow. This foray into unchartered territory required leadership, courage, fortitude, and luck. Following their journey today feeds an adventurous spirit, historical curiosity, and appreciation of engaging storytelling. Join Ken Burns and Stephen Ambrose as they share their fascination with the “Corps of Discovery.”

Instructor:   Dr. Janet Harris

Dr. Janet Harris has taught literature and writing for over twenty-five years, coached readers and writers in pursuing their personal goals, and reviewed books.  As an editor, Dr. Harris has guided writers in publishing over 150 books and advised SMU graduate students in completing theses and dissertations. She has retired several times, the first from UT-Dallas.
