Course Description

This course explores the life and work of Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968), one of the most influential figures in modern art. Participants will examine how Duchamp challenged traditional definitions of art through works such as Nude Descending a Staircase and his revolutionary concept of "readymades," in which ordinary objects were transformed into art through artistic selection and reinterpretation. The course follows the evolution of his career from early paintings to the secret project that occupied the final two decades of his life.
