Course Description

This course examines U.S. midterm elections, which occur midway through a president’s term and involve elections for all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and one-third of the U.S. Senate. Participants will explore the historical pattern in which the president’s party often loses seats in midterm elections, investigate the causes of the “midterm phenomenon,” and analyze the context, events, and outcomes of the 2026 midterm elections.
