Course Description

When Mexico invited settlers from the United States into Tejas, those who responded needed courage and determination to survive the frontier. This course explores the settlement of early Texas through both well-known figures such as Stephen Austin, Sam Houston, Travis, Fannin, Seguin, and Crockett, and the lesser-known stories that helped shape Texas history. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the people and events behind the frontier experience and the phrase “Gone to Texas."
