Course Description

This course examines how movies portray the history of war and asks whether films deepen our understanding of conflict or obscure its realities. Students will analyze how war films may promote inaccuracies or oversimplify complex events, and will explore changing cinematic depictions of conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War. The course also connects with the Collin College Auteur Film Series (2026-2027), with opportunities for students to attend related public screenings.
