Course Description

This course explores the remarkable animals of the Pleistocene, commonly known as the Ice Age. Beyond familiar creatures such as woolly mammoths, mastodons, saber-toothed cats, cave bears, and dire wolves, participants will discover many lesser-known giant species, including enormous swans, giant beavers, and the colossal Par Aceratherium. The course also introduces the various human species that lived during the Pleistocene and examines the impact of the genus Homo on Ice Age megafauna.
