Course Description

The presidential campaign of 2024 was going to be unique with a former president running for a second term against the candidate who defeated him in 2020. That hadn’t happened since 1912. Then eight days into July everything changed. The attempted assassination of former President Trump combined with President Biden’s withdrawal from the race transformed everything about the 2024 presidential campaign. After assessing these unprecedented events, the focus will shift to the General Election campaign.  The course will wrap up with an analysis of the 2024 elections.

Who knows what will happen between now and October 24?

Dr. Michael McConachie earned his master's and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  He has been teaching government at Collin College since 2004.  His areas of interest include the American Presidency and Texas politics and government.
