Course Description

Voltaire said, “Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”  Disinformation is a growing threat to democracy.  We know that it works, at least on a subset of the population.  With the prevalence of social media, disinformation today is spread easily, broadly, and fast.  With the development of A.I., it will likely fool more and more people.

This course is about the history, tools, psychology, and danger of disinformation.

Jim Lamb, Ph.D., is a retired college professor, computer programmer, and I.T. manager.  After receiving a doctorate in philosophy from Brown University, he taught at SMU for 35 years.  Jim was also the Director of Computer Services at Ebby Halliday Realtors
