Course Description

The 1920's witnessed major internal migration in the United States, most notably the Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to Northern urban centers.  This influx brought vibrant musical traditions such as blues and jazz to cities like Chicago and New York. This burgeoning music industry capitalized on these cultural shifts, leading to the rise of influential record labels and radio stations.
